Who calls us

Premises we work on in Altea

Shops

Entrance cylinders, shutter locks and ground bolts, plus the glass door closers that fail in the heat.

Restaurants and bars

Long hours, several key holders and a back door that is always in use. Usually worked on between service or on a closing day.

Offices and studios

Suites in shared buildings where the communal entrance and your own door are two different responsibilities.

Small hotels and guest houses

Guest room cylinders, staff areas and store rooms, handled around check-in and check-out.

The work itself

  • Entrance door cylinders replaced or upgraded
  • Cylinders keyed alike, so one key covers the doors it should
  • Shutter and roller door locks repaired or replaced
  • Staff key changes when someone leaves
  • Door closers, handles and panic hardware checked and adjusted
  • Emergency attendance when premises cannot be locked or opened
  • Safes that will not open, where the premises keep cash on site

Key control, without key cutting

The question behind most commercial calls is not "which lock" but "who can get in". That is answered by deciding which doors share a key and changing cylinders when the list of key holders changes.

We fit and change cylinders. We do not cut or duplicate keys, so additional keys for a cylinder come from its manufacturer through the proper channel, which is also what keeps a restricted system restricted.

For a safe that will not open, see safe opening and repair.

How a commercial job is arranged

  1. A look at the doors

In person or from photographs. What is fitted now, what it is protecting, and who has a key to it.

  2. A written quote

Itemised by door, so you can approve part of it and leave the rest for later.

  3. Work at a time that suits trading

Before opening, after closing or on a closing day. Emergency work happens whenever it has to.

  4. Handover and invoice

Keys counted out and signed for, and an invoice made out to the business.

Out of hours, and after an incident

A shop that cannot be locked at closing time is an emergency. So is a break-in discovered at seven in the morning. Both are attended through the emergency call-out service, and if there is damage, post-break-in repair covers making the premises secure and documenting it for the insurer.

For planned upgrades on individual doors, lock change and repair covers cylinders and conventional locks.

Commercial locksmith questions

Can you work outside our opening hours?

That is usually the point. Lock work in a restaurant at one in the afternoon helps nobody. Early mornings, late evenings and closing days are all workable, and are quoted as such.

A member of staff has left and not returned their keys. What are the options?

Change the cylinders they had access to. On premises with several doors it is worth fitting cylinders keyed alike at the same time, so that future changes are one job rather than five. We fit matched cylinders; we do not cut keys.

Our shutter lock has seized. Do you deal with those?

Yes. Shutter locks, roller door locks and the ground bolts on glass shopfronts are common calls, particularly near the seafront where salt reaches everything.

We are a small hotel. Can you work on guest room doors?

Yes, on conventional cylinder locks. Proprietary electronic card systems are supported by the company that installed them, and we will say so rather than take the door apart to find out.

Can you attend if the premises have been broken into?

Yes, and it is treated as urgent. Making the premises secure comes first, photographs and an itemised report for the insurer come with it. That work is described on the burglary repair page.

Do you invoice businesses properly?

Every job is invoiced with the business details you provide, itemised, and suitable for your accountant. Landlords and management companies can be invoiced directly where they are the ones instructing the work.

Locks holding your business back?

Tell us how many doors and when you close. You will get an itemised quote you can approve in parts, and work scheduled when it costs you the least.
